Hazardous Material vs Hazardous Waste
Hazardous Materials come in many forms and are regulated based on their hazardous properties. The Department of Transportation (DOT) definition of hazardous material is a hazardous material is defined as any substance or material could adversely affect the safety of the public, handlers or carriers during transportation.
Hazardous Wastes also come in many forms and are regulated based on their hazardous properties, however, the rules for Hazardous Waste are much stricter for handling, storage, transportation and treatment.
